Dr. Powers has been doing Counseling Intensives for nearly 25 years. They are high impact change events in the lives of those who participate. They also allow individuals and couples from other geographic areas to benefit from the experience of the trained professionals at The Redimere Group. The Counseling Intensives are growth oriented assisting individuals and couples reach the next stage in their developmental process.
Marriage Intensives
Marriage Intensives are often significant and life changing events for those who participate. Marriage Intensives are not all cut out of the same cloth.
Some couples seek an intensive in a time of crisis or transition. Others come with the desire to work on a specific personal or marriage issue in order to grow their relationship to the next level. Some come as a part of a sabbatical plan in order to deepen their understanding of themselves — personally, spiritually and relationally as a means to deeper connection and intimacy. Some come to strengthen and enrich their communication skills or ability to resolve conflict.
Consequently, we do not take a “one size fits all” approach to designing the intensives. We make a intentional effort to get to know a person and their context and to design an intensive that will meet the individual needs of the marriage.
Generally, the structure of the intensive is a one or two week period where we meet with for three hours per day Monday through Friday. Homework, readings, and time for reflection will be the focus in the time between our meetings. Time between meetings is also designed for rest and renewal. Individuals participating in intensives are encouraged to not schedule their off time with activities in order to provide space to rest and reflect.
In our experience, couples have found Marriage Intensives so helpful that they become a regular periodic part of a couple’s marriage development plan, not unlike ongoing continuing education.
